Went to the comedy show here which was fun. There's a two drink minimum. The drinks are pretty strong. We got the Bee's Knees and Old Fashioned. We did have to chug our drink at the end cause they wanted everyone out for the next show.

Please keep in mind that I had a reservation, this was NOT for standby tickets. The entry process here was more chaotic than the other comedy cellar venues, but everything worked out fine. I've been to the Velvet Underground, which is a bit bigger, therefore you have to show up pretty early to get a good seat. For this show, I came way too early. With the Fat Black Pussycat, you can show up 20 minutes before if you have a reservation. It's very small and intimate. There isn't a bad seat in the house. That being said, those of us who were single patrons were sat along a bench, which was fine--just be aware you'll be sitting closely with strangers and sharing small tables. Some servers were ON IT! and got food and drink out to their people quickly. Our server (meaning the singles bench haha) was a little more scattered and a little slower in the beginning, but she recovered and kept us filled up on cocktails. "Cocktails" here are around 14 bucks each and are ok. Not great, but not bad, and for New York, 14 bucks is cheap. Don't seem to be heavy on booze. I didn't have time to catch dinner beforehand, so I had some food there. I had the mini-skewers (beef, chicken, and vegetable). They are smaller and cost three dollars each skewer, so I ordered two of each type. It was a decent snack, filled me up, but not heavy. They also have things like sliders, wings, house made potato chips, and paninis. This seems like a good place to say that the website hasn't been updated in a long time. While you can see the lineup on the main comedy cellar website (which is updated all the time), the Fat Black Pussy Cat still says you have to have proof of vaccination (you don't), that there is a martini program (I saw no evidence of a martini program). There is also a vague referral to a "dress code" of "no athletic wear" (whatever that means), but everyone there was dressed casual and there was no issue. I was wearing a Jordan hoodie and no complaints were directed at me. Some of the comedians here are TOP NOTCH, FIRST CLASS. I chose this show because Alex Edelman was on the docket. He is a Tony winner and recently had a sold out Broadway show. I got to pay a few bucks and my two drink minimum to see him! And he was so funny! Raw! This is the place where comedians come to try out their new material and see what works! One of the other comedians was a writer for Weekend Update for SNL. They had comedians of all ethnicities and nationalities, all types of comedy. Some was highbrow and snarky, some was raunchy. Some people did impressions. A lot of variety. I have a couple more reservations here for other comedians (Jon Laster, Matteo Lane). Great evening out, super reasonable price, no way you'll get a bad seat. How can you lose? PS: no photos because this is a phone/watch free show. They place your gear in a sealed bag beforehand.

I had a great time here on a Tuesday night. There were a variety of comedians. I recommend buying tickets well in advance as they do sell out. If tickets are sold out, you can get on a waitlist by coming to the club an hour before the show. It's pretty easy to get off the waitlist as long as you sign up for it early. There's a 2 menu item minimum, which is standard and the prices are also pretty standard. I would definitely come back.

Staff was super friendly and fun to have around. The comedians were hilarious and consistently a good time. Best night visiting NY so far, will be back!
